The most excellent Dave Kellett of one of the first webcomics out there, the most excellent “Sheldon” joins me for an epic interview. This one runs a little long, but it was a fun time…so brew some tea, get out the headphones, and enjoy! We cover Dave’s long journey from the early days of the internet, to Keenspot, to Comics.com, to his own site, to the Half Pixel crew. We talk about the recent Webcomics.com paywall, the importance of growing your audience, the free-content webcomic business model, and answer questions sent in by many of his fans. Enjoy!

That was a really GREAT interview, Tom! I enjoyed it a lot. Dave was a blast to listen to. That was fun
This was a very knowledgable and energetic interview, one of your best yet. I hope Dave Kellett gets teaching out of his system. Great teachers are almost impossible to find, Dave! Go for it!
The internet failures were fun.
So why does itunes refuse to display the correct time on shows that exceed an hour? I thought I wouldn’t have time to eat all the food I prepared. Then I remembered that itunes is wacky.
My favorite part in this was when y’all talked about Webcomics.com as a trade association. I sent in a question to Webcomics Weekly a while ago about something similar (I can’t remember what I asked), and it was pretty quickly dismissed by the group. This is more to the point of what I was curious about, an organization that could grow and eventually provide support, perhaps, such as group discounts on shows (done), services (say, CPAs) and insurance. Thanks, Dave, for addressing the question I meant to ask!
Good interview. Smart guy. Went to the “badda-bing” schtick a few times too often.
Great interview, Tom! Course, we expect no less! Fun guy, and interesting conversation!
Great interview Tom! It seems no matter how often I listen to a podcast or interview with Dave Kellett he always drops just one more little gold nugget about comics, cartooning, or on the business model of being a cartoonist online. ~ Cheers!
That was fun to listen to, like always. And just in case anyone is wondering about that question about Dave’s wife
