#492 – The Font Is BACK!

Well, it was a nice experiment and I have to thank you guys for not bitching too hard about my new font. I tried it on for size for about a month hoping that it might fit in. But in the end, it never did. It was just too “pretty” for Pinkerton. Now if I can just get someone to design me an italic and bold italic version of my font, I’d be happy as a pig in a hooker store.

Just a quick reminder: The Pinkerton Forum is lonely. It needs you! Click here.

GREAT to have the old font back!

    • Fry

I agree. Not that the old font was terrible. This one feels like home tho.

  2. magit

looks like his ‘hard core’ just snapped hehe
and the moose thinks of itself as manly :-) (ie. human)
whatever, just wanted to say i like this one, didn’t meant to state the obvious

it’s the words and the drawings that make it good anyhoo. would’ve made a comment on the font if i thought it mattered, it doesn’t. leave that one to the nitpickers wearing wool-nit sweaters at the nit farm, you know, below the mountain of nit corpses at nitsville

welcome to the world of “getting old” martin.
where you wake up each day with more “snap, crackle and OMG!” than a bowl full of cereal.

Ever had your neck stuck like that FOR A WEEK!?… T’was Hell. Hell I tell you!

I enjoyed the experiment font, but you’re right, the old font was more Pinkertonee.

A hard, dry, brittle core. And just how /does/ he get his antlers into that helmet? And it seems that he was warming up for a circus act instead of football. Maybe Tucker switched his playbook.

I prefer the original font as well. It has more character. The new font was nice but a bit too “modern”.

    • Wit

Antlers and a football helmet are tricky business…but not too tricky for our resident nerd…I MEAN JOCK!

Count me along with the ones who like the old font. I’m glad you have gone back to it! Speaking of backs, OUCH! I can’t laugh at this one because the older I get, the easier it is to hurt mine. I can sneeze and feel a twinge. Geez it sucks to get old!

  7. Wit

    Thanks, everyone!

Martin is doing the Yoga pose commonly known as backward cracking back to a laydown position.

Tracy: I had that happen to me about two years ago. I turned my neck, heard a crack, and couldn’t move it for a week. My friends kept waiting til I walked by them, then they would call me and laugh hysterically at me.

    • Wit

WHEN did that happen? Did you go to the doctor or did it just resolve itself?

    • Dirty Job Comics

@Jessica – Girl, my sicko friends did the same thing to me too.

@Wit – The neck eventually resolves itself but the after thought never really leaves you.

    • Jessica

It was March about two years ago around the same time as other things… I might have been reacting to the stress. But it hurt like hell!! I actually had a friend who was a massage therapist who massaged it for me a couple times, but Dirty’s right, it never really resolves itself. Dirty, I had a friend that did that to me constantly just to see if I would turn around like a robot and laughed. Made driving really hard.

      • Jessica

I bought those ice hot hearing pads and just walked around with one of those taped to my neck. My boss at work told me I looked stupid, but I did not care! Best invention ever!!!

Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!
    No more Andy Capp font!

    • Wit

I know you’re being politely vague, but I’m getting the idea you didn’t like the font.

  10. DuckAmuck

I’m still new, so I didn’t notice a difference. I just love fonts, so I understand playing with them. Generally if I can read text and not notice a font, I’m happy. (Just don’t EVER use Papyrus here, OK?)

Silly Martin, never ever ever try to do a backbend if you’re not 6 or well-trained for backbends.

  11. Brogan

    Haha, awesome.

  12. Kelly R

Love this font for sure! Good choice changing it back.

And, like everyone else, it sucks getting old!!

  13. dgriff13

geez, I casually make a suggestion about a font, and next time I drop by POOF, changed. If only my grumbles about lack of cash worked like that.

    Looks good!

aww, poor martin. If you get hurt during warm-up, it’s not a good sign.

This font matches the straight lines of the balloons and characters perfectly. The slight problems you have with it might be fixed with an email to Blambot, and possibly a little cash.
I tested this font on my comic for a few strips, but its lack of international characters was a problem for me.

  15. Eddie (from Chicago)

All of you ARE at the gym regularly doing cardio and working the weights? Hahahahahahaha.

I *Crack* my self up. *Sigh* Old sucks big time.

    • magit

i heard gyms in the usa have escalators instead of stairs, is that true?

      • Wit

LOL! At the last gym I was a member of they had an escalator machine. Apparently you just walk up stairs for an extended period of time.

  16. MJ

Outrageous stripwork lately Wit. Check out your e-mail my friend.

  17. Teresa

All panels are awesome! 2nd one though is a tad bit funnier for some reason! HAHA

Oh and WOOHOO for the old font! Much better :)

  18. me!

So it looks like nobody likes the old font. Figures.

    • Wit

I’m just gonna switch to Times New Roman.

      • Teresa

I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN AND HURT YOU! I CANT STAND THAT FONT!!!

        :)
