It’s time to talk Zuda with Tall Tale Features very own Brock Heasley, he of “The Superfogeys” fame.  Brock has written a wicked-cool comic called “Monsterplex,” and he’s got it entered into the monthly contest over on Zuda.  Brock did a great interview recently over on the wonderful Comics Coast to Coast site, but this time, he’s brought reinforcements!  Joining me are artist Dave Schlotterback and colorist (and Th3rd World mogul) Mike DeVito. We talk about the whole Zuda experience, the background of “Monsterplex,” and how each gentleman fits into the puzzle. We also talk comic book influences, and a discussion about the future of comic books in the upcoming post-iPad world we’re going to find ourselves living in!

Okay, now for my big announcement.

Every month DC Comics (publisher of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, etc.) pits 10 comics against each other on their webcomics site, Zuda. For a few weeks, people are invited to rank, vote on and praise or damn the comics until one emerges victorious (read: most popular) and the creators of said comic are offered a one year contract to keep making it.

On Monday, Feb. 1^st at Noon Eastern Standard time, my submission, MONSTERPLEX, went live on the Zuda site. You can go check it out right here, right now.  Together with artist David Schlotterback (my office mate) and colorist Michael DeVito (Publisher of Th3rd World Studios, the company that publishes my comic, The SuperFogeys), I’ve created what I think is a great comic. I hope you agree.

I hope you agree because this is where you come in. I would like you to join me on TEAM MONSTERPLEX. Between the great work my creative team has done on MONSTERPLEX and the power you hold as one who can access the interweb, I think we can win this thing. We can’t do it without you.

Wes Molebash of the very popular (but now defunct) “You’ll Have That” joins me and Tall Tale Features’ very own Brock Heasley of “Superfogey’s” fame in a wide ranging chat about comics, art, writing, divorce and faith. Wes’ new strip, “Max vs. Max” has just begun its run on the web, and already it’s hitting its stride. Wes is an open, honest, and interesting guy, and he, Brock and I tackle the tough issue of portraying an artist’s faith in God and religion in their work; the joys and pitfalls of that, the advantages and disadvantages.  Being a man of little faith, it was a fascinating discussion, and Wes and Brock are thoughtful and rational ambassadors of their faiths.

You might notice this show is a little longer than most…don’t forget to stay tuned through the end, because I have an interview with Tom Dell’Aringa of “Marooned” and Steve Ogden of “Moon Town.” They’ve formed their own publishing house called Wishtales, and we discuss why they’ve jumped into that world and what it means for them and other artists!

This is an episode that was recorded back in July, but I’ve been saving it for just the right time, and lo and behold, here it is! Brock Heasley of “Superfogey’s” fame, and Brian Anderson of “Dog Eat Doug” join me for a discussion on what’s appropriate fodder for comedy, and if there are lines we shouldn’t cross as writers and artists. Tall Tale Features Member alert! The most talented Brock “SuperFogeys” Heasley joins me again for an update on his goings-on. SuperFogeys has passed the big 200 mark, and the Saga of Dr. Rocket has been taking us down all sorts of roads.  Brock clues us in on the whole process of that storyline, and talks about the alternate version you almost saw! It’s a work in progress that is very powerful and should be a great read.
